Living where we do heading to Stonehenge for Solstice sunrise is not really a viable option so instead we head to the sunrise coast in Suffolk. Southwold is our place of choice, the sun rises over the pier and it is popular with Southwold residents and others from the surrounding area. Every Solstice day is different, the people, the conditions, and the sunrise itself. If its a weekend Solstice I take my children to see it, my mother came with us until her 90th year, we have seen people coming out from parties, taking a swim, or enjoying the sunrise with a glass of bubbly and a barbeque, and as well as people there is the Southwold wildlife (bunnies galore) on the verges and cliff, and muted seagulls wondering why so many people are around.  It is a special time for me and my family and my images of those mornings are special.

Summer Solstice

Spring on the Orwell, taken from an elevated position at Nacton Shores on the King Charles Coastal path, we look across the river Orwell as clouds drift across the sky.

A summer evening on the  Orwell, taking time just to stand and stare as we look towards the Shotley peninsula, the sun has dipped below the cloud line but still casts its golden glow on the calm waters of the river.

Holding on, taken on the Northern shores of the river Orwell, the tree is clinging to the river bank and the river washes the tree at high tide but by the force of nature  still it holds on.

Reflections, On a calm sunny day the still water brings reflections as we look across the river to the marina and the trees beyond.
Yacht masts reach skywards whilst their reflection comes towards us across the water.

Reaching out, down on Nacton Shores a fallen tree reaches to a mackerel sky, bleached by the sun, wind, and tide, this will surely become driftwood when the tides call.
